So, for Christmas my brother and soon-to-be-sister-in-law got me all sorts of cool stuff including: a 24 paintbrush set, an easel, a 48 color acrylic paint set, and some nifty little canvases. Suffice to say I was excited and it didn't take me long to get started. The first thing I painted was a nice little beach scene for my mother who aspires to one day live in a warm climate, near the water, and relax all day in the sun, so I decided to give her a little bit of warm sunny beaches in freezing cold, snowy December in Michigan. It ended up being a backdrop for some musical angels that my mom still had setting out for Christmas...she said it would be the backdrop every year from there on out. Oh, mothers.
After that I got a little too excited and I wasn't really prepared to paint my next picture, but I went for it anyway. It started out as a sunflower, and then turned into a Halloween cat. After those two options didn't turn out, I decided to start from scratch on the same canvas and see what I could do with painting a tree. It's not perfect or anything and it's obvious were I painted over my first two gos, but I think it was pretty good for my first time painting a tree ever.
For my third painting, I knew I had to be a little more prepared, so I made a real quick simple sketch of a hummingbird napping in a flower and then got to painting. I wanted to make something cute and colorful and this was what I came up with. I wasn't sure about it when I first finished, but I've come to like it and you should like it to. So there.
Anyway, I will probably be posting other artsy things I've done. I've done a few paintings before, awesome crayon art, and recently I have learned how to make cute, ruffly scarves. I'm debating on creating an etsy store, but I think I need to hone in on my skills first. Since it's not very optimal to just make a bunch of paintings to have sitting around my apartment (or giving them all to my mom because she HAS to like them) I want to start painting for all you awesome people for some practice. So, if you feel like paying (a very small expenditure) an amateur painter for something to hang on your wall I'd be happy to do something simple like these for now until I get better. And if I like you enough, who knows, maybe I'll send you something just for being awesome (free of charge). So...keep being awesome.
